Spellings

Spellings make up part of the homework each week and will usually have a related pattern or "rule" to focus on. These patterns and rules are specific to the year 5 curriculum and directly match to the teaching delivered.

The lists will regularly include some key words from the year 5/6 selection that children are expected to know by the end of this key stage (see below).

All spellings will be taught, practised and applied, in context, during the week in which that homework is set. The children will then be tested on the Thursday of that same week.

Please do encourage your child to learn these spellings and regularly revise them to help consolidate patterns. Click on your child's spelling group to find their latest spelling list.
