Meet the Governors

As Chair of Governors, I’m delighted to welcome you to this part of the Brentry Primary School website. Here you can find out more about who we are, what we do, and how we support the school.

Our Governing Body is made up of volunteers from across the community,  including parents, staff and local representatives,  all working together with a shared commitment to the success and well-being of staff and pupils. We focus on the long-term strategy of the school, helping to shape its vision and values and ensuring that Brentry Primary School continues to provide a safe, inspiring and inclusive environment for learning.

Governors have a number of important responsibilities. We support in monitoring the educational performance of the school, ensuring that all pupils have access to a broad, balanced and high-quality curriculum. We monitor how resources are used, making sure that the school’s finances are well managed and directed where they can make the greatest difference. We also review and approve policies, support with the effective management of safeguarding and pupil welfare, and support the Headteacher and senior leaders in delivering the best possible outcomes for children.

Although we are not involved in the day-to-day running of the school, we work closely with the leadership team to provide oversight, clarity and long-term direction. Our aim is always to ensure that the school continues to thrive and that its decisions are made in the best interests of pupils, staff and the community as a whole.

We hope this section helps you get to know the Governing Body and understand the role we play within Brentry Primary School. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our work and for being part of the wider school community.

If you wish to contact the Governors, please write to me via the school (Brentry Primary School, Brentry Lane, Bristol, BS10 6RG) or email me via Brentryp@bristol-schools.uk

Kind regards

Diversity Statement:

The governors believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender, and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

Due to our relatively small governing board, we will not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data
