    • Year 4 Poetry Day

      Published 02/10/25

Year 4 loved celebrating National Poetry Day today. We based our poetry on emotions/ feelings and first discussed how our feelings can be put into zones or colours (zones of regulation). We even sang a ZOR song along to a live guitar instrumental. We then began to personify these feelings and create characters/places of this one zone or feeling. We looked at a poem for inspiration that was called ‘The Land of Blue’ before mind-mapping our own ideas and rhyming words.

The children wrote some excellent poems inspired by the zones of regulation and some of us enjoyed performing them to year 3! We have also videoed a few of us reciting our poems for you to hear!

This morning, the majority of the class were not the biggest fans of poetry. By the end of the day, the majority had changed their minds. We had fun with it, got creative and succeeded! Here are a few comments about our day:

“You’ve actually changed my mind on poetry now Miss Horseman. That was fun” - Josie

“That was the best morning ever”- Lilly

“Can I do my poem at break time too?” -Theo

We will be holding two dress down days in the run up to our Fireworks Spooktacular:

      📅 Friday 10th October
      📅 Friday 24th October

Pupils can come to school in clothes of their choice in exchange for bringing in a gift for the Spooktacular tombola. Donations could include bottles, chocolates, sweets, or other suitable prizes. 🍫🍬🍾

💛 On Friday 10th October, it’s also World Mental Health Day. To show our support, we are encouraging all pupils to wear something yellow as as part of their dress down day outfit.

    • Christmas Cards are coming

      Published 01/10/25

🎄✨ Christmas Cards are coming! ✨🎄

Our classes have been designing their own Christmas cards and Year 5 smashed it today.

      Here’s how it works:

      1. Artwork coming home by Wed 8th October at the latest.

      2. Place your order online, on the Cauliflower Cards website, using the unique code on your child’s form any time once the artwork is at home.

      3. Return the original artwork to school by Mon 13th October so we can post it off.

⚠️ If we don’t receive the artwork back by 13th October, Cauliflower Cards can’t print your child’s personalised items—even if you’ve ordered online.

These make gorgeous keepsakes and gifts (cards, mugs, tea towels and more) and every order helps raise funds for our school. Thank you for supporting Brentry! 💛

Year 5 have been looking at our mission statement. We have been thinking about which targets we would like to set ourselves over the next year. We had a lovely chat with Mrs Jack who told us what targets she had set for the next financial year. It was very kind of her to agree to a pay raise for Mrs Moore 😉🫣

    • PTA Thank You

      Published 26/09/25

Thanks to the incredible support of our parents and local community at last year’s PTA events, we’ve been able to give our ICT Suite a much-needed upgrade over the summer holidays! 💻🎉

Every pupil will now benefit from brand new hard drives (with the latest spec to keep them running for years to come), plus shiny new keyboards and mice.

The PTA kindly donated £6,000 towards the project, with the remainder funded through a grant – something we simply couldn’t have achieved without your support. 💙

And we’re not stopping there! Our next fundraising and grant project will be to provide a canopy for our Reception class, giving the children a fantastic outdoor space to enjoy all year round. 🌦️🌈

Thank you for making such a difference to our children’s learning. 🙏👏
