Year 4 took our maths learning outside today for our ‘summary’ lesson one what we’ve learnt so far about the place value of 4-digit numbers.
Station 1: THE BIG PLACE VALUE GRID
We rolled a dice to make a 4-digit number and then had to chuck beanbags into the correct place value columns to make that number.
Station 2: COMPARING NUMBERS
Two teams battle it out to try and make the biggest number. this involved running across to the other teams side to ‘steal’ cones in order to place them on your teams place value grid.
Station 3: PART-WHOLE MODELS
We rolled a dice to get a 4-digit number and then used to the chalk to partition the number on the playground.
Station 4: BUILD AND REPRESENT.
Children used counters and dienes to build and represent a number.
