🇫🇷 Final Day in France – Journey Home 🇫🇷

Our final stop in France was Etaples Military Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth military cemetery in France. During our visit, we announced the winners of King, Queen, Prince and Princess. Our King and Queen laid a wreath on behalf of Brentry Primary School in a very moving moment of reflection.

We are now on the ferry, everyone has enjoyed lunch and we are currently on schedule for a 7pm arrival.

More photos of this trip can be found on Facebook.

🇫🇷 Evening Fun at the Château 🇫🇷

Last night the children enjoyed our awards ceremonies, including prizes for the tidiest room and the onesie / PJ catwalk.

The standard was high and the competition tough — winners announced in the photo comments.

🇫🇷 France Trip – A Powerful Day on the Somme 🇫🇷

Today was a fascinating and moving day on the Somme. We began at the Albert Museum, where our tour guide Alain showed us around and brought the history of the battle to life.

We then visited Newfoundland Park to see the untouched battlefield, left exactly as it was, before finishing at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing. The children were struck by the sheer number of names carved into the walls and reflected thoughtfully on what they saw.

Back at the château, everyone enjoyed tea — including southern-fried frog’s legs for the brave! The evening is being rounded off with songs around the campfire before bed.

    🇫🇷 A Fantastic Day in France 🇫🇷

The children have had a brilliant day, starting with time at the park before heading to Nausicaá Aquarium. They then explored the old town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, visited Notre Dame Cathedral and enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere at the Christmas market.

So many wonderful experiences packed into one day!

    🇫🇷 France Trip – Morning Update 🇫🇷

All is well this morning. Most pupils slept well… one room didn’t quite manage it! 😄

Everyone is happy (if a little sleepy), has enjoyed breakfast and is now heading off to Nausicaá.

🇫🇷 Settled in at the Château 🇫🇷

After travelling straight to the château, the children have enjoyed their first meal, sorted their rooms and taken part in a quick fire drill.

They’ve now headed out for a scavenger hunt around the site and are already throwing themselves into the activities.

    🇫🇷 French Trip – We’re on our way! 🇫🇷

Our Year 5 & 6 pupils set off bright and early this morning for an exciting weekend in France. The journey went smoothly and they are now enjoying their ferry crossing across the Channel.

Lots of excitement on board as the adventure begins — we’ll keep you updated along the way!
