How you can help your child at home:
- Hear your child read regularly. Go through the book together, discussing the pictures, characters and story before reading the text. Encourage your child to point to the words and follow the text along using their reading finger. After reading the book, discuss favourite pictures/parts of the story. Remind your child to use their phonic knowledge to help.
- Spend time reading and enjoying stories with your child.
- Please bring the reading book and diary to school.
- Encourage your child to notice maths all around them – on signs, in books, in shops, on labels, comparing objects, counting, shapes around the home...
Things to remember each week
- Come to school wearing PE kits on their PE days – Wednesday and Friday
- Bring in their reading books on their reading days
- Bring a water bottle to school each day
- Spare clothes are very helpful in Reception because we do lots of messy play. Please bring some spare clothes to keep at school.
- Ensure all school uniform and other items are clearly labelled with their full name
