Josh Eggleton, owner of the Michelin star restaurant the Pony & Trap in Chew Magna came and cooked breakfast for 80 pupils and staff this morning as part of the Big Breakfast week.
The Big Breakfast in conjunction with Fareshare is all about celebrating and raising awareness of breakfast clubs, as well as building partnerships and fundraising with local businesses, to help organisations like Fareshare to keep their service sustainable for schools in the South West.
Fareshare have quadrupled their work to tackle child hunger in the last 12 months- their food is now eaten by around 4,000 South West children every day.
As you will know, the old school building has been undergoing a major refurbishment over the course of this year. The plan is to move out of the temporary classrooms at the end of the academic year (in July) and move back in to the school at the start of the new academic year (September). This will give the builders time to finish off the refurbishment, and clear the temporary site over the summer holidays.
Because of this, Bristol City Council have allocated us additional closure days so that we can pack everything up before the break, and set the school up for the children afterwards. We will combine these with In-service training days, to give us the time we need. Therefore, the new dates for the end of Term 6 this year, and the start of Term 1 next year are as follows:
Apologies that we haven’t confirmed these dates until now, but we had to be as sure as we could be that everything was running to time with the refurbishment before we could finalise arrangements.
We had a very exciting guest join us on Monday 28th January - Jack Rutter. He was the captain of the England and Great Britain Paralympic Football Team.
Jack kept the pupils entertained all day with some great aerobic exercises, and gave us a moving and inspirational speech in assembly. Thank you to all the parents and carers who helped us raise money for the Paralympics GB team.
